Behind the scenes // OSLO collection shoot

For our Autumn Winter 2018 lookbook photoshoot, we headed to one of our favourite locations, Oslo, Norway. Check out what went on behind the scenes, find out more about the photographer and get the inside scoop on our hair and makeup beauty picks.

The details //

The collection: Oslo
The model: Beatrice Brusco
The photographer: Tim Thiel
The art director: Stefanie Seif of Lepetitmax Frankfurt

The mood: Spirited – not spiritual, bold and unapologetic
The soundtrack: Rihanna ‘b***h better have my money’, CamelPhat & Elderbrook ‘Cola’, Studio Deep ‘Over & Over’

The food: Sushi and Smørebrød

Jewellery credit: The Oslo campaign features Pia Hallstrom Fine Jewellery which is perfectly aligned with Monreal’s  design sensibility and can be worn season after season- to the gym, to work, and on a glamorous evening out.

The trainers: Alexander McQueen’s Oversized Sneakers, Balenciaga’s Race Runners, and ballet slippers from Celine.

Memorable moment: “We wanted to get a shot of Beatrice in the house’s incredible gym but we had been locked out. Time was running out.. so we photographed her in front of the glass wall which separated the gym from the pool instead.”

What everyone loved: “Sparkling water out of the tap in the kitchen – we were all so jealous of such a simple luxury.”

Hair & makeup // Kerstin Hajdu

The brief: Natural, textured hair
The products: Beach Effect Styling Spray by La Biosthetique and some OI Oil by Davines
The method: Wrap different sized sections of hair in opposite directions around a curling wand and let cool. To finish, rub a little argan oil on your hands and pull your fingertips through the hair to create easy natural waves.

The brief: Fresh glowy skin, a soft smoky eye with a pop of colour on the waterline.
The products: Face: Énergie de Vie day creme by Lancôme plus a drop of Custom Glow Drops Liquid Highlighter by Lancôme
Coloured eyeliner: Naxos Kohliner by Nars
Eyebrows: Soap Brows
Mascara: Monsieur Big Mascara by Lancôme
Lips: L’àbsolu Gloss Cream by Lancôme

The technique: Spread the eye pencil on the waterline and press the eye together a few times by blinking for a smoky, soft blended look.

What made you choose flash light photography for Monreal?

The Monreal woman is strong and confident and I wanted the images to reflect this spirit. Using flash also gives a more editorial feel to the imagery which speaks to the brand’s positioning in fashion-meets-sport.

Why did you cast Beatrice for Monreal/ this job?

I thought Beatrice brought all the right elements to represent the brand – sexy, cool, real, desirable and sporty. She has a certain bold attitude and intriguing look and isn’t just a pretty face.

You work closely with Lepetitmax Art Director Stefanie Seif on many of your commercial photo shoots, what makes your teamwork so special?”

We have been collaborating with the team at Lepetitmax since 2004 and have grown to have a blind understanding with each other. Stefanie Seif has a great eye for composition and always delivers a high level result making it easy to trust and execute projects together.

Which camera equipment did you use?”

Canon 5DS and flashlight equipment from proFoto
